Question by Shy missy: Are there any company alike to getty image?
I’m interested in someday workings for a Visual Communications establishment form Getty Images. What are some of the other well-known company similar to Getty Images? What form of position should I expression for that would aid prepare me to wash for that establishment?

Contact BAPLA – British Association of Picture Library Agencies – most of the major players and a lot of independent picture libraries are members… a lot of photographers are too.
Wal-Mart sells more images than they do for less. Ha!
Look into doing signing type visual communications,
Corbis is the other big one besides Getty, Magnum is another one (smaller, more fine art type photos from what I remember)
Also VII I think its called. Look up stock photography, or more likely “photo agency”.
I guess in terms of internship it depends on what you want to do exactly. Do you want to work selling the images, hiring/working with the photographers, editing the images, ?
I think you’d need different type of internship/education to work in different departments-graphic arts/design for one, business or something for another, etc. Those companies do usually have internships, I’d recommend getting an internship with one of them.

That is the American trade association for stock agencies. They have a member list- maybe there is a company in your area you could intern at?
