Everybody loves to listen to music. In olden days, only radio was available to listen to music. Then came the television where you can view various musical performances. Then came the tape recorder, where you can hear music by playing the tape. Now of course you have the CD player and most of the latest mobiles have MP3 player feature so that you can hear music where ever you are, whenever you want to. The radio lost its importance and people started forgetting about it with the introduction of television and Internet. But with the introduction of FM radio, people have started getting interested in listening to the radio again.

Have you listened to the FM? If you have, you will hear not only music but also talk show hosted by many people. They talk about interesting topics and keep you entertained. The person who hosts this talk show is known as a Radio Jockey.

Radio, you all know is used to listen to music. It is a wonderful machine and you can listen to music the whole day, if you have a radio in hand. The first working radio was invented in the year in 1895 by Guglielmo (William) Marconi. The FM radio took all music lovers by storm. The FM radio became so popular and everybody were interested in listening to FM radio. Edwin Howard Armstrong pioneered a broadcasting technology that uses FM or frequency modulation in a view to provide high fidelity sound over broadcast radio.

Today hosting talk shows in FM radio broadcast is a very lucrative and promising career. The Radio Jockey or RJ not only hosts talk shows on the radio, he interacts with the audience, usually over the phone and also selects the topic of discussion and the music to be played. In India it is a high paying job.

There are lot of professions you all know, but the one profession that is recognized by the voice is, Radio Jockeying. Youngsters who have a passion for music and who has the talent to entertain the audience by talk, can choose this career. They interview guests, play music and they should be able to capture the hearts of the audience who does not see you, with their talk. A Radio Jockey, apart from having a good voice and the ability to talk well, should also be a good listener. He should know to communicate well. He should be a good anchor and also be friendly and handle calls efficiently, interact well, ask questions, listen to their comments, play music etc. You need not be highly qualified to become a Radio Jockey. A good voice and good communication skill is required, with a graduation degree. Fluency in the language spoken, knowledge about music, a good sense of humor is also required. There are colleges in India where you can do a certified course in Radio Jockeying. The success of your profession depends on how you conduct a show and on how you inter-act with the listeners.
